Year One Costs Nothing. Year Two Has No Published Number.

We are selling something and will not pretend otherwise. MN Registered Agent.org charges $99 a year for Minnesota registered agent service and would like to charge it to you. On a page about undisclosed pricing, the one thing we refuse to do is invent a figure, so where Inc Authority is silent this page reports the silence and stops there.

The Free Year Is Not a Trick

Buy one of Inc Authority's formation packages and twelve months of registered agent coverage are included at no cost. We looked for the usual fine print, a setup charge, a shortened term, an early termination penalty, and none of it is stated. A company in its first year, when cash is tightest and the owner is least sure what any of this costs, gets working agent service for nothing. That is a genuine benefit and it belongs before the criticism rather than after it.

Year Two Is Where the Page Goes Blank

The renewal price is not published. Our July 2026 review went through the home page, the FAQ, and the premium package listings, and no renewal figure appears in any of them. Based on how this industry generally behaves, the number surfaces at the order screen or when someone quotes it to you on the phone.

We could put a plausible amount in that gap. We will not, because the entire argument of this page would collapse with it. And the structural problem does not need a number to be a problem: you are being asked to commit to a recurring cost you cannot see, for a service you will keep for as long as the company exists.

Minnesota Limits the Damage in Two Directions

The good news is that this state gives you unusual protection against an unquoted renewal, and it comes in two forms.

First, leaving is cheap and quick. Whatever the number turns out to be when it finally arrives, moving the appointment costs $55 through Minnesota's expedited online channel, or $35 if you can wait for mail. That is not a sum worth negotiating over. It is a sum worth paying the week the invoice shows up.

Second, and more unusual, a Minnesota LLC formed in this state is not legally obliged to have a registered agent at all. The articles of organization list one only where the company has one, and NONE is a permitted entry, provided the LLC still holds a registered office at a true street address in Minnesota. Most owners appoint an agent anyway, and for good reasons: a home address stays off the public record, and a summons has someone accountable for spotting it the day it lands. But if a vendor ever quotes you a renewal that seems out of proportion to what you are getting, the exit is wider in Minnesota than almost anywhere else. Companies registered here from other states do not have that option; for them, an agent is required.

Engage the replacement, file, confirm, then close.
